-
Make sure that your phone works with our app.
-
We will ask for your phone number, date of birth, and password to keep your app safe and make sure we can contact you in an emergency.
-
You can also fill in some extra details on your profile – but this is only if you want to.
-
We will ask you to use your location so we can find you in an emergency, so make sure that you are always sharing your location with the app.
-
We won’t share your location with anyone unless you tell us you’re in danger – then we will share it with people who can help you.
-
We use information about your community to see how we can help people who live there.
-
Remember, you can’t use our app to do anything illegal, and we’re always able to block you from using our app.
-
For the Kwanele App to work, we must use the services of other organisations like the armed response, the police, lawyers, and counsellors.
-
We cannot control how fast they respond, so if you think it is taking too long, you can always reach out and chat with us in the chat service.
-
We only keep your information if we need to, although sometimes we need to keep it to give to the police or to help us make our app better.
-
The videos, photos, or stories you save as evidence are kept for up to 10 years – in case you even want to open a case.
-
The armed response company keeps your data for up to 6 years for the same reason.
-
If the Kwanele is ever sold, we could give your data to the new owners but we’d always let you know if this happens.
-
If a court asks us to give them your evidence, we will do so – but we will tell you first.
-
We will also share your information if you ask us to help your case.
-
If something in the app is not working please let us know on our whats app line 0723996992.
-
If you want to ask a question about your data, message us anytime.
-
If the technology is insulting or harms you, please DM us or WhatsApp us so we can change it.
-
We might use data from the app, like emergency alerts, locations, and types of GBV, for research. This data will not show who you are.
-
